Autodesk’s first successful CAD program, Autodesk Inventor was released in the late 1990s, followed by the more successful AutoCAD in 2000. Autodesk has released at least three or four major versions of AutoCAD in each of the past 20 years: AutoCAD 2009, AutoCAD 2010, AutoCAD 2011, and AutoCAD 2012, for example.
Competitors to AutoCAD include 3DCoat by Solvusoft, MakerBot by MakerBot, SOLIDWORKS by Dassault Systems, and Autodesk Fusion 360 by Autodesk. Software applications may also be compatible with AutoCAD (such as the Ghost Inspector by Ghost Inspector Inc.), and many Linux-based CAD programs now also run on Windows (such as the gCAD by Crytek GmbH). AutoCAD versions and releases are discussed below.
The program runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X operating systems.
Autodesk AutoCAD 2012, Version 1.0
Autodesk AutoCAD 2012, Release 1 (Autodesk 2012 Release 1) is a proprietary software program used to create 2D and 3D graphics, designs, and documentation of products and buildings. Developed and marketed by Autodesk, it is available for personal and commercial use, and is sold directly and through third-party resellers worldwide.
All models for AutoCAD 2012 Release 1 are also available in a free community version, AutoCAD LT 2012.
The latest version of AutoCAD is AutoCAD 2014, but this version is not on this site, although that version is available for download from the AutoCAD 2014 site.
Licensing and Pricing
AutoCAD 2012 can be licensed for personal use, academic use, or commercial use, and for academic, academic-corporate, and commercial purposes.
It can be licensed by the user, by a company, or by a company and its employees.
AutoCAD 2012 Personal Edition
The AutoCAD 2012 Personal Edition is a free version of the program that is available for download from the Autodesk site. This version does not include 3D modeling functionality. Users can view, but not create, drawings in 2D.

Category:Software using the GPL license‘Smart’ air pollution sensors are being designed by scientists and engineers around the world, ready to take on the job of measuring carbon dioxide.
While the first of these meters are scheduled to hit the market this year, the ultimate goal is to have a network of devices spread around the world to give a daily snapshot of the amount of atmospheric CO2.
We’ve talked about how these sensors might help scientists and engineers better understand the relationship between emissions of this greenhouse gas and temperature. Now we’re also starting to look at the potential of these devices as the first step towards measuring pollution in real-time.
On its own, CO2 is a colorless gas. However, the wavelength at which it emits light is different from that of any other gas in the atmosphere. Therefore, a CO2 sensor has to be able to detect CO2 by measuring the light it emits in a way that is unique to it.
Earlier this year, the American Chemical Society, in collaboration with the National Science Foundation, published a report describing the physics of this detection.
This work was followed up by a publication in the Journal of Physical Chemistry B, which contained more details on the development of an atmospheric CO2 sensor. The work included the first demonstration of a working prototype, and, in the paper, the authors suggest that this first prototype would be useful as an early warning of rapid increases in CO2.
Now, a team of engineers and chemists from The Scripps Research Institute, in collaboration with the Carbon Dioxide Group of the National Science Foundation, have published a paper describing a new concept for detecting atmospheric CO2 using metal-oxide materials, which they describe as ‘smart’. They compare these sensors to the ‘bump’ on a car. The sensor surface is the bump, and the gas to be measured is the ‘surface’.

Open Autocad.
From the menu: View -> Options -> Devices.
On the dialog below, you can choose from the driver file, the
host service and the service name.
When finished, click on OK.
Click on File -> Devices to open the Device manager.
You should see your monitor listed.
Right click and select Stop.
